France's ongoing deindustrialisation ought to arouse concern

Looking at manufacturing production, manufacturing production capacity and employment in manufacturing industry, it is clear that France's deindustrialisation is continuing. The combination of high production costs and a low level of product sophistication is therefore apparently continuing its work of "destruction" of manufacturing industry in France. The ongoing deindustrialisation is bad news for France: it will result in a further deterioration in the trade balance and ongoing distortion of the job structure towards low-paid, unsophisticated service jobs.
