From one ideological victory to another
The 1980s saw the ideological victory of liberalism , monetarism , Anglo-Saxon financial capitalism , free trade and free movement of capital. Th e 2020s will probably see a very different ideological victory resulting from the assessm ent of the disorder created by the paradigm established in the 1980s, with the return of various forms of protectionism, capital controls, a capitalism that works with the state , industrial policy, monetary policies that are subordinate to fiscal policies, and probably labour market rules that are more conducive to wage earners.
