German Q3 GDP details: net trade weighs on growth, while domestic demand remains (relatively) solid

A b ig drag from net trade pushed German Q3 GDP growth into the negative. Domestic demand at the same time developed dynamically on the back of strong investment spending. The drop in exports reflects only partially a weaker external environment. The main cause for the contraction in economic activity in Q3 are pro blem s in the car sector related to the new emission certification rules. This is a temporary effect and we expect a rebound in activity in Q4.
