Editorial Given the acceleration in Covid cases, especially in Europe, the announcements of new restrictive measures and fears of further lockdown in several countries are weighing on the markets. As the US elections are approaching, investors are concerned that these elections will go badly and, in particular, that one of the candidates will challenge the results, which is not helping the gloomy atmosphere. In addition, Donald Trump has tested positive for Covid-19. The Brexit situation is not much more encouraging: the EU and the UK are still struggling to agree on their future economic relations. The next few weeks may be very trying.

Overview of the Asian covered bond market

Since 2016, the Asian euro benchmark covered bond market has experienced substantial growth, with the outstanding volume now reaching €24bn. Despite this expansion, it remains a niche market, accounting for approximately 2% of the total euro benchmark covered bond market. The de-escalation between China and the United States dominated the week, pushing risky assets a little higher. The S&P gained 4.5% over the week and is now 4% higher than it was just before Liberation Day and, more importantly, close to where it was at the beginning of the year.
