How has Brexit affected the UK economy so far? What does an examination of these mechanisms tell us?

The announcement of Brexit in June 2016 has had important consequences for the UK economy: Sharp depreciation of the exchange rate, leading to imported inflation and a fall in purchasing power; A boost to exports provided by the exchange rate depreciation, but which has been outweighed by the fall in domestic demand caused by the imported inflation: this shows that a depreciation of the exchange rate reduces growth; Increased uncertainty leading to a weakening of corporate investment; Continued long-term capital flows to the United Kingdom, which means that London retains its financial centre role for the time being . The pound has depreciated because of short-term capital outflows.
