Implications of Trump’s tariffs on the copper market
In an off the cuff remark made yesterday, President Trump shared that he would be imposing a 50% tariff on copper imports into the US. In this report we discuss the immediate and longer implications on copper prices and why we think that copper prices are heading toward s a sharp correction. We also explain why we do not think that Trump will be able to achieve the end result of increas ing copper production in the US.
