In reality, expected inflation had not disappeared in the United States
The United States, the euro zone and Japan have been hit by the same inflationary shock ( to prices of energy, other commodities, transport, semiconductors, etc.). The reaction of core inflation has been very weak in Japan, quite weak in the euro zone and strong in the United States. This shows that inflation expectations had disappeared from behaviours in Japan and to a lesser degree in the euro zone, but not in the United States: the inflationary shock triggered the emergence of inflationary behaviours in the United States, much less in the euro zone and not in Japan. Inflation had not disappeared from people's minds in the United States.
