Is Europe set to find its true North?

The European Commission has unveiled its « compass for competitiveness » to cope with the increasing competition from the United States and China. This is an ambitious strategy in terms of innovation, decarbonisation and diversification of supply chains. This strategy is accompanied by between €750 billion and €800 billion by 2030. While it remains to be seen how this plan will be implemented, it has the advantage of identifying a number of structural issues that need to be addressed in the near future. Once again, it seems that it is when the adversity is greater that European countries find Community answers alone capable of restoring weight to them in a globalised economy that is increasingly confrontational. It is worth bearing in mind that this compass will enable the European Union to return to the path of growth by the end of the decade .
