Is technological progress synonymous with good jobs?

One could imagine that technological progress is synonymous with the transformation of “bad jobs” into “good jobs”: if there is automation and digitalisation, arduous work should disappear, jobs should become more sophisticated, the wage level should increase, etc. But this is not what is really observed. Despite the increase in the innovation and corporate modernisation effort and in the weight of the new technologies sector: The weight of domestic services jobs (unsophisticated, poorly paid) has risen, offsetting the decline in in the weight of manufacturing employment; the weight of jobs in new technologies remains low; the proportion of low-wage jobs has therefore risen ; Accordingly, productivity gains have slowed; Workplace suffering and stress are at very high level s ; The number of self-employed workers has risen, often in conjunction with the development of online platforms. So it is not at all clear that technological progress leads to more good jobs.
