Italy out of recession in Q1 with 0.2% growth

After two consecutive quarters of negative growth (-0,1% QoQ in Q3 and Q4 2018 ), Italy exits from recession with positive GDP growth of 0 . 2% in Q1. There is no breakdown of demand components available for the first estimate but Istat stressed that the contribution of domestic demand was negative while external trade c ontributed positively to growth. With this in mind , the 0 . 2% figure has to be interpreted ca utiously. T he weakness of the domestic side is definitely not good news and points to a still cloud y economic outlook for the Italian economy .
