Not one but two large euro-zone countries are now in difficulty
Among the large euro-zone countries, for a long time it was Italy that was in difficulty , due to stagnant productivity related to corporate underinvestment (due to low profitability, beleaguered banks). But today, Germany is also in difficulty , due to the contract ion of “old†industries, market share losses under the effect of declining cost competitiveness, and weak global trade. It therefore has to be admitted that two of the four large euro-zone countries are now in difficulty , which investors are not going to like.
