In late 2018, economists and investors became convinced that the trade war between the United States and China would cause a drastic decline in growth . M ost of them fell into line with this very pessimistic view. As should have been foreseen, the United States and China are now seeking a compromise; financial markets are already picking up, and forecasters will soon raise their growth forecasts.
