PISA scores and productivity growth

The 2022 PISA survey was published at the end of December 2023; the previous survey was carried out in 2018 and published in 2019. Here we study the relationship between the 2022 PISA score and the change in the PISA score between 2018 and 2022, in mathematics, reading literacy and scientific literacy, with productivity gains over the 2018-2022 period and over the 2002-2022 period, as well as with the change in productivity gains between the 2013-2017 period and the 2018-2022 period, for OECD countries. We find that: The level of the PISA score is not correlated with productivity growth; The change in the PISA score between 2018 and 2022 is positively correlated with the change in productivity gains between the 2013-2017 period and the 2018-2022 period
