Population ageing may explain financial changes

There is continuous population ageing in OECD countries as a whole and globally. It is then logical to see: A rise in the private sector savings rate; A rise in the wealth/income ratio; A fall in the risk-free interest rate; A rise in equity risk premia. This structural trend in financial markets, linked to demographics, comes on top of traditional cyclical changes.
