Shareholders face two risks that are no longer correlated: The risk of uncertainty and the risk of volatility

Uncertainty (risk perception) and volatility are usually considered to be strongly linked. However, there has been a decoupling between uncertainty and volatility in the recent period. This means that the risk of holding equities has two origins (uncertainty and volatility) and not just one origin . It also means that for the equity risk premium to be low, both uncertainty and volatility must be low.
