So far, the euro zone has been a failure

It can be considered that the euro zone has so far been a failure, because we do not find there the expected characteristics of an economic and monetary union : Capital mobility between euro-zone countries has disappeared since the euro-zone crisis of 2010-2013; Trade flows between euro-zone countries have not benefited from monetary and econom ic integration as much as could have been expected ; European companies in the new-technology sector have not taken advantage of the existence of the single market to expand. The euro zone therefore does not currently make it possible for savings to be invested where it would be most efficient within the euro zone, and it has not generated a significant single market effect.
