The election has passed, but uncertainties remains
With 245 seats in last Sunday’s parliamentary elections, the presidential coalition Together! missed an absolute majority by a wide margin (289 deputies). Emmanuel Macron now finds himself in a unique situation for a president elected under the Fifth Republic and the election result will make it difficult for him to govern during this term. A government alliance with the party The Republicans, who won 64 seats, seems less and less likely. The breakthrough of the RN ( Rassemblement National ), which obtain ed the largest number of deputies in its history (89) , limits the possibilities of for the President further . The left-wing coalition NUPES managed to win 131 seats, but their po litical weight will be limited with the split of the coalition into separate parties. All things considered; Emmanuel Macron will find it more difficult during hi s second term to push through his agenda .
