The global economy needs international cooperation

The COVID crisis has sparked both international tensions (crisis between the United States and China) and nationalist and regionalist reactions (preference for domestic production, desire to reshore production). The trend seems to be towards deglobalisation, leading economies to function on a regional basis, with strong economic and political tensions between regions. This is a fairly common crisis effect: the absence of cooperation results from the desire to mend the domestic economy, at the expense of other countries if need be . And yet the global economy today urgently needs international cooperation between its major regions for numerous reasons: the climate, the need to preserve global value chains, managing commodit y prices , control ling money creation, development aid, research.
