The important questions for Europe after the COVID crisis
In Europe, t he COVID crisis raises questions concerning : The shortcomings exposed by the crisis (health care systems, social welfare, research and innovation, government efficiency); New inequalities ( low-protected jobs, youth, wealth inequality caused by the expansionary monetary policies); New frontiers in economic policy (fiscal deficits, debt, money creation, government intervention); The potentially irreversible changes brought about by the crisis (consumption, work and leisure behaviours; the energy transition) and the consequences of these changes (training, skills, reallocation of production factors, redistributive policies); The governance of capitalism and companies (stakeholders, return requirements) that will determine how the cost of the crisis is shared in the medium term.
