The limits to central banks’ strategy

Central banks’ current strategy can be described as follows: they are tolerating the highest possible inflation that still allows them to not raise nominal interest rates and tweaking monetary policy rules to this effect. This strategy makes it possible to reduce public debt ratios, thanks to the lowest (most negative) real interest rates possible. But it has two limits: The slow pace of the decline in public debt ratios that it generates; The excessive and probably unsustainable rise in real estate prices that it leads to.
