The outlook for short-term and long-term interest rates is returning to reasonable levels in the United States and the euro zone

Since the start of 2024, there has been a clear upturn in short-term and long-term interest rate expectations (we are looking at the United States and the euro zone). On the contrary, between the beginning of October 2023 and the end of 2023, we saw a sharp fall in expected short-term and long-term interest rates. It now appears that this drastic decline was based on two analytical errors regarding : The pace of disinflation; The behaviour of central banks.
