The reforms in France have to correct 20 years of structural deterioration. This will take a long time

Public opinion in France would like to very rapidly see positive effects of the structural reforms (labour market , education , vocational training, taxes, healthcare , etc.) on purchasing power. But it i s important to understand the magnitude of the structural deterioration in the French economy since the late 1990s, which concerns: The education system; The vocational training system; The modernisation of companies; The cost competitiveness and sophistication of production; The weight of industry and the deterioratio n in foreign trade; The efficiency of the public sector. These 20 years of structural deterioration in the French economy and the halt to the effort to make progress in the French economy will inevitably take a very long time to correct.
