In our view, the two key questions for the global economy and financial markets in 2019 are as follows : Will the inevitable cyclical slowdown turn into a recession? It is not clear that there is a mechanism that could trigger a recession; Will risk aversion in financial markets remain as high as today? There is reason to fear so.
