United Kingdom: Have behaviours changed since the Brexit referendum?

We examine whether some economic variables in the United Kingdom have behaved differently since the June 2016 Brexit referendum as a result of the prospect of the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU or the increased uncertainty over the United Kingdom’s relation ship with the EU and over the country’s economic situation. These behavioural changes could concern: Savings and house-buying behaviour; Corporate investment; Foreign direct investment; Foreign t rade; Capital flows. We see signs of a Brexit referendum effect on behaviour with regard to: Household savings (low er ; to offset the rise in inflation); Corporate investment (slightly low er ); Exports and imports (low er ); International equity capital flows (large outflows) . This is consistent with intuition.
