United States: Has the situation of the middle and working classes improved since the election of Donald Trump?

Many Americans voted for Donald Trump in 2016 because they thought that his policies (“America first”) would improve the situation of the middle and working classes in the United States (protection against competition from emerging countries, incentives to move production back to the United States, desire to reindustrialise). Almost three years later, are there signs of improvement in the situation of the middle and working classes in the United States? Such signs could be: Faster growth in their incomes; Renewed investment in industry and manufacturing job creation; A lower unemployment rate, in particular for the low-skilled; More generous social welfare; Lower inequality and poverty. There has clearly been an improvement, although it began in the period 2010-2014 - well before the election of Trump.
