US-China trade agreement: not a done deal yet
Edito On the trade war front, the latest news is mixed: the Trump administration extended its authorisation for American companies to deal with Huawei, but China was clearly not pleased by the adoption of a text calling for the protection of human rights in Hong Kong. Furthermore, Donald Trump threatened to further raise tariffs on Chinese imports if an agreement is not reached, which did nothing to calm tempers. In a bid to unblock the situation, Chinese Vice Premier Liu He reportedly invited Robert Lighthizer and Steven Mnuchin to Beijing for further talks. To be continued…
