What are the important macroeconomic questions for the euro zone?

The important macroeconomic questions for forecasting the euro zone’s future economic trajectory are: Will euro-zone inflation fall back below the ECB’s target or will the euro zone move to a permanent inflationary equilibrium? Has the COVID crisis, with its effects on productivity and the labour supply, reduced or increased the euro zone’s potential growth? Will the euro-zone countries with low to zero potential growth succeed in raising their potential growth and thus ensure the sustainability of their public debt? In particular, can labour force skills be improved in the countries where they are low? Will capital mobility within the euro zone recover, so that the euro-zone countries with excess savings once again lend them to the other countries? Will the euro zone be able to cope with the constraints resulting from the energy transition?
