What could cause the demise of neoliberal capitalism?

First, let it be said that contrary to a widely received wisdom, neoliberal capitalism is not going to: Reform, especially after the COVID crisis; Die from its flaws (income distribution, inequality, globalisation, climate disruption, etc.). We see two possible causes of the death of neoliberal capitalism: It is no longer capable of providing growth, which may lead to its rejection; It is surviving thanks to borrowing and debt monetisation, and could therefore meet its demise in a major monetary crisis.
