What is happening with the dollar?

Since May 2020, the dollar has depreciated against the euro, the renminbi, the yen and emerging currencies, as well as against gold and bitcoin. What accounts for the dollarâ€™s loss of value? A sharper and more persistent deterioration in the US economy due to the COVID crisis? Doubts over Trumpâ€™s leadership, or perhaps expectations of a Biden presidency? Stronger monetary expansion in the United States than in other regions? The rapid rise in US external debt? All these explanations are probably valid.
