What is offsetting population ageing? Nothing

If population ageing, which will affect and is already affecting all OECD countries, is not offset by anything, it will cause a significant decline in potential growth. But population ageing can be offset by: Raising the retirement age; Higher productivity gains; Immigration. A comparison of OECD countries suggests that, for the time being, population ageing is not offset by anything; on the contrary, faster ageing is associated with a lower employment rate among over-60s, lower productivity gains and lower immigration.
