What is really happening in Germany?

German growth has slowed drastically since the end of 2017 and expected growth in 2019 has become weak (lower than 1%). What are the mechanisms slowing growth in Germany? A restrictive fiscal policy? Yes; Problems in the automotive industry? Yes; A loss of household confidence and an increase in savings? Yes; A fall in corporate profits and investment? No; A fall in competitiveness and a slowdown in exports? Yes. The drastic slowdown in German growth seems to be due to a loss of confidence in Germany’s industrial growth model.
