What the financial markets are not expecting

We believe the financial markets are currently mistaken in not expecting three developments: The gradual return of inflation, which is likely to drive up long-term inflation expectations and very-long-term interest rates; The election of Joe Biden in the United States, which is likely to drive up expected inflation and push down share prices and the dollar; A depreciation of the dollar, which is likely to further widen the spread between dollar and euro interest rates.
