When comparing France and the other euro-zone countries, what can we learn about economic policies and can we explain the social tensions in France?

We compare France and the other euro-zone countries as regards: Poverty, inequality, redistributive policies; Income distribution; The employment rate and the structure of jobs, the scale of deindustrialisation; Labour force and youth skills, companies’ modernisation; The tax burden on households and companies; Real estate prices. This shows that the economic policy strategy that would improve France’s situation and reduce social tensions would consist in restoring skills, encourag ing companies to modernise and rais ing the retirement age to reduce the tax burden. Compared with the other euro-zone countries, there is no negative anomaly in France as regards poverty, inequality or income distribution.
