Donald Trump is , at the same time: Trying to extend US growth through very expansionary fiscal and monetary policies; Taking the risk of destroying this growth through threats of protectionism and their consequences: falling share prices, retaliation from other countries, appreciation of the dollar against other currencies. This policy is therefore odd and contradictory.
