Like the lyrics of French rapper SCH, the market seemed to have put aside the pandemic context to leave its place to the inflation theme. However, the markets are once again experiencing turbulence against the backdrop of a resurgence in the number of Covid-19 cases in Europe and the rise of the South African variant. The idea of a fifth wave, potential lockdowns and a new vaccine are shaking up market expectations as the holiday season approaches. If the situation worsens, will Santa Claus, in the person of the ECB, hand out his gifts before time? One thing is sure, the market is looking forward to the December 16th meeting.
