New Street: Japanese Telcos Faster revenue but slower profits, stay constructive – Q2FY22 review

Japanese incumbents saw faster revenue but slower profits this quarter. On an aggregate basis, market revenues trends continued to accelerate driven by easing MSR trends as well as the fixed and non-core businesses. Consumer wireless remained under some pressure because of the lower value plans but trends should continue to inflect in the coming quarters and with the non-wireless businesses proving good support we think there is a compelling growth opportunity for the Japanese incumbents.
