Through its subsidiaries, Co.'s activities are divided into the following areas: Construction, engaged in the construction of civil works, and residential and non-residential building construction; industrial services, engaged in the development of applied engineering services, installations and the maintenance of industrial infrastructures in the energy, communications and control systems sectors; services, groups together environmental services, the outsourcing of building maintenance services, logistics and transport services; and concessions, mainly engaged in transport infrastructure concessions.

Alstom serves the power generation and transmission markets, and rail transport market. Co.'s activities are divided into four sectors: the Thermal Power Sector (Co. offers power generation solutions using gas or coal to services including plant modernization, maintenance and operational support); the Renewable Power sector offers EPC solutions, turbines and generators, control equipment and maintenance for Hydropower and Wind power activities; the Grid Sector designs and manufactures equipment and turnkey solutions to manage power grids and transmit electricity from the power plant to the large end-user; and the Transport Sector provides rail transport products, systems and services.

Co. provides a range of products as well as services such as just-in-time delivery, product mixing, blending, repackaging, inventory management, drum return handling as well as technical and laboratory services for specialty chemicals.

The Exploration & Production unit is a active in the focus regions of the North Sea (U.K., Norway), Russia and North Africa. The Concessions and PPPs division is engaged in construction and operating of infrastructures under concessions and public private partnerships. Through the Construction division, Co. is engaged in building design and construction, property development and building maintenance. Hapag-Lloyd is a container liner shipping company. Co.'s core business is the shipping of containers by sea but also encompasses transport services from door to door. Co. transports hazardous goods by sea, road, rail, and inland waterway vessels; and provides reefer solutions to transport temperature-sensitive products, including perishable cargoes; and high value reefer cargoes, such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare products, and more. Co. also offers security information services; e-commerce solutions in the shipping industry; logistics services, such as pre-carriage and on-carriage transport services; and customs clearance services.
