Block : Robust Q1 2022, positive trajectory in April, further integration of Afterpay pending the CMD – Outperform rating maintained
>Q1 2022 hard to read due to the consolidation of Afterpay, but EBITDA was probably well above expectations - Block reported its Q1 2022 results yesterday after trading. Note that it was consolidating Afterpay for the first time and that most of the consensus seems not to have factored that into Q1 forecasts. Gross profit was $ 1,295m, up 34% yoy and 10% qoq. Excluding Afterpay, it was $ 1,203m (consensus: $ 1,295m), up 25% yoy. By segment, the gross profit of Square ...Square is a commerce ecosystem that combines software with hardware to enable sellers to turn mobile devices and computing devices into payment and point-of-sale solutions. With the company's offering, a seller can accept payments via magnetic stripe, Europay, MasterCard, and Visa, or Near Field Communication; or online via Square Invoices, Square Virtual Terminal, or the seller's website or app. Also, sellers can gain access to reporting and analytics, next-day settlements, digital receipts, payment dispute and chargeback management, security, and Payment Card Industry compliance.
