PSA Autos: Suzuki Motors (7269 JP) In Top Form – What’s Next?

• Over the last few years, Suzuki has reinvented itself as one of the most successful of Japan’s automakers, posting strong sales growth, market share gains, record profits and profit margins. The success has been well balanced, with progress made in all regions and all divisions.
• So far in FY18, sales have continued to expand on the back of new model launches and positive market conditions.
• While all seems well in the Suzuki universe, we think there are some clouds on the horizon, especially in India, Suzuki’s most important overseas market.
• Furthermore, as Suzuki enters a new phase of preservation rather than expansion, Suzuki shares may lose the appeal they had for the last two years, with the turnaround story potentially coming to an end.
• In this report, we review Suzuki’s sales and profit outlook, based on model launches and general market conditions. Our main focus is India, given that we view performance here as a main share price driver for Suzuki. We also look at Suzuki’s valuation and shareholder policies, to assess whether Suzuki remains an attractive investment.
