Suzuki Motor – Increasing Downside Risk in India
Since analyst Julie Boote’s June 8, 2016 report flagging the upside for Suzuki as the India market looked set to recover and her view that the firm was successfully moving up the value curve, the shares have had an impressive rally – rising 173%, outperforming both Topix and the TPTRAN Index by 119% and 131%, respectively. While the current sales figure continue to impress, Julie flags several concerns ahead, suggesting a risk of reassessment.Suzuki Motor is engaged in the manufacture and sale of automobiles and motorcycles in Japan and overseas. Co.'s business segments are automobiles, motorcycles, and marine. Automobiles segment manufactures and sells light automobiles, compact automobiles and general automobiles including "Swift," "Solio," "Jimny," "Spacia," and "Hustler." Motorcycles segment manufactures and sells compact two-wheel vehicles, light two-wheel vehicles, motorized bicycles and buggies such as "Hayabusa," "GSX-R1000R ABS," and "Skywave." Specialized Machinery segment manufactures and sells outboard motors, engines for snow vehicles, motorized wheelchairs, among others.
