On October 31, 2019, Thierry Breton, appointed European Commissioner, resigned from his position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Elie Girard, Deputy Chief Executive Officer since April 2019, succeeded him as Chief Executive Officer, while Bertrand Meunier succeeded him as Chairman. This separation of functions is welcome and we congratulate the company.
The Chief Executive Officer's compensation policy for 2020 includes several changes: the decrease in fixed compensation is very positive, as it is now below the median. In addition, it has the effect of reducing the maximum total compensation from €7.1 million to €4.99 million (-30%), which corresponds to our ceiling in France. On this point, we will appreciate that the company has followed our recommendations. Furthermore, the company has heard our requests since it has added a CSR criterion to the variable compensation and removed the excessive pension scheme that was in place, without compensation. This policy is therefore preferable to the previous one and we support it.
