During today’s (14 August) 2Q25 earnings call, Aquila noted that the EBITDA margin should exceed 6% in 2H25E, vs. 5.8% in 1H25, so a small, but tangible uptick, implying that higher gross margins from its expanded portfolio and revenues synergies from the M&A will now outweigh the impact of the higher headcount visible in 2Q25 and, in turn, higher wage costs. We see this as in line with management’s statement that it takes three-to-four months to see the positive impact from new hires on the top...

Calendar 2Q25 started off well for the sector, benefitting from the Easter effect and low fuel prices, but many airlines experienced disruptions to their networks later in the quarter, following Israel’s attack on Iran. Demand for flying seems broadly resilient so far, with fares helped by limited capacity growth in Europe, due to supply constraints. As we move into the peak season, Air Traffic Control (ATC) remains a bottleneck, especially as parts of the European network remain closed to traff...

During yesterday’s (13 May) 1Q25 earnings call, Aquila noted that the increase in the wholesale gross margins – 22.15% this quarter, vs 20.48% for FY24 ؘ– should be sustainable in FY25E. The margin was driven primarily by the sales mix – especially higher sales in the HoReCa, travel retail and traditional retail channels – and supported by recent M&A (Romtec and Parmafood).
