We Wouldn't View an AT&T/Time Warner Deal Favorably
Rumors surrounding AT&T and Time Warner have quickly escalated from “informal strategic talks†to suggestions from The Wall Street Journal that an acquisition announcement is imminent. From the AT&T perspective, we find this development disappointing, though we will withhold judgment until a deal, if any, is announced. From the Time Warner perspective, we would expect a deal above $90 per share will be needed to pass investor scrutiny. The company's Communications segment provides wireless and wireline telecom, video and broadband services. The company's WarnerMedia segment includes media and entertainment businesses that principally develop, produce and distribute feature films, television content, and other content globally; and operate digital media properties. The company's Latin America segment provides entertainment services in Latin America and wireless services in Mexico. The company's XANDR segment relies on using data from its customer relationships, to develop digital and video advertising that is relevant to consumers.
