IBERIAN DAILY 06 DECEMBER (ANÁLISIS BANCO SABADELL)

NEWS SUMMARY: ACS, ELECTRICITY SECTOR, ENDESA, FCC, IBERDROLA.

The rally hits new highs
European stock markets saw new gains, with the debt curves tightening due mainly to the dovish comments rather than to the improvement of macroeconomic data after I. Schabel, one of the most hawkish ECB members, stated that with the latest inflation data an additional rate rise is unlikely. In the STOXX, Real Estate led gains, followed by Construction, whereas Basic Resources ended in negative territory and Retail practically flat. On the macro side, in Spain, October’s industrial output deteriorated slightly less than expected. In the euro zone, November’s final services PMI improved vs. the preliminary reading thanks to the good data released in Spain and Germany. In the US, November’s non-manufacturing ISM climbed to 52.7 (better), suggesting 4Q’23 growth in line with the 2.5% q/qa expected by the consensus. In Brazil, the 4Q’23 GDP grew slightly more than expected. In China, Moody’s cut its debt rating to negative. In Japan, the Central Bank vice-governor stated that the monetary authority was closer to end negative rates.
What we expect for today
European stock markets would open again with moderate gains. Currently, S&P futures are up +0.3% (the S&P 500 ended unchanged vs. the European closing bell). Volatility in the US dropped (VIX 13.55). Asian stock markets are climbing (China’s CSI 300 +0.36%, Japan’s Nikkei +2%).
Today in Germany we will learn October’s factory orders, in the euro zone October’s retail sales, in the US November’s ADP private employment survey and in Mexico November’s consumer confidence.
