Insight School of Oklahoma to Hold In-Person Graduation Ceremony

Insight School of Oklahoma (ISOK), a full-time online public charter school serving students in grades 7-12, will celebrate the Class of 2018 at an in-person graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 17, at the First Baptist Church of Edmond.

Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb, a strong supporter of school choice, will deliver the keynote address to the school’s 57 graduates and their families.

“Congratulations to the Insight School of Oklahoma Class of 2018,” Lamb said. “These students are a testament to the power of perseverance. They have worked hard to overcome setbacks and get back on track to reach the important event of high school graduation.”

ISOK offers a comprehensive education approach with targeted support specifically for struggling students. ISOK’s state-certified teachers provide assistance helping students fill in skill gaps and move toward high school graduation, which makes this event particularly meaningful for ISOK students and families.

Kadi Bogle, a Class of 2018 graduate, will also address her classmates. Bogle dropped out of school five years ago when she got pregnant at 15, but she enrolled at ISOK in 2015 and has persisted in her education, even as her husband has been deployed overseas with the Army Reserves. Bogle has especially appreciated the flexibility of the online curriculum as she cares for her children.

“ISOK gave me the ability to be home with my kids with my husband overseas,” she said. “If it wasn’t for the teachers working with me to keep going, I wouldn’t be graduating. I wanted to give up, but they encouraged me to stick with it and really helped me get through my husband’s deployment. I am so grateful to ISOK for helping me reach this goal which I set several years ago.”

The graduates of the ISOK Class of 2018 report that they have been accepted to a number of colleges and universities, including University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Murray State University, Oklahoma City Community College, Rose State College, Southwest Oklahoma State College and Tulsa Community College.

ISOK’s students have built strong relationships with their classmates during their time with the school. They interact with each other through their virtual classrooms, as well as discussion threads and instant messaging. In addition, ISOK offers many in-person activities throughout the school year, including field trips and dances. Graduation allows the students to celebrate their accomplishment together.
