PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) and non-profit Both Ends Burning announced that Honduras is the most recent country to join its growing list of partners using a software-based registry called Children First Software to support child welfare.
Both Ends Burning, a change agent dedicated to bringing attention and solutions to the challenges facing orphans in developing nations, partnered with Tyler Technologies to develop Children First Software. The technology helps government agencies build, maintain, and manage accurate records of a child’s identification, medical conditions, and other details for matching the child with their forever family. By having online, comprehensive access to each child’s relevant information, Children First Software helps in-country courts, child welfare, and adoption organizations make determinations about the best outcome for each child, as well as measure family-based outcomes in a timely and safe manner.
Both Ends Burning and Tyler recently visited Honduras and had the opportunity to meet Abogada Lolis María Salas Montes, executive director of DINAF, a government-run child welfare agency, as well as representatives from criminal justice departments, family adoption agencies, international abduction organizations, and public policy and municipal programs representing all regions of the country.
The three-day visit concluded with a press conference, where Abg. Salas Montes from DINAF announced the program and partnership with Both Ends Burning and Tyler. The organizations are committed to enter 1,000 children into the profile module of Children First Software in the first 30 days of production, which was initiated on July 17; this partnership represents the culmination of several years of collaboration to ultimately improve the lives of children living outside of family care in Honduras.
"We are very encouraged by how our Children First Software initiative will bridge the data gap in global child welfare,” said Mark Schwartz, who holds the dual role of executive director of Both Ends Burning and director of consulting for Tyler Technologies. “All 27 countries in our global working group, including our most recent partner, Honduras, are embracing the importance of information and data, and are beginning to see how following the data can have a dramatic and positive impact on the lives of children."
Both Ends Burning and Tyler have a shared vision for how public/private partnerships can help countries solve tough and complex issues. Tyler is committed to using technology to help transform the justice system, and the partnership with Both Ends Burning helps address systemic injustice for these vulnerable children.
“We continue to be encouraged about the impact that the Children First Software initiative can have for global child welfare with each new partner that becomes part of our vision, including the country of Honduras,” said Bruce Graham, chief strategy officer and president of Tyler’s Courts & Justice Division. “Together with Both Ends Burning and the global working group, we can make a real impact on the lives of children living outside family care.”
Both Ends Burning will hold their Third Symposium, scheduled for November 7-9, 2017, in Washington, D.C., where Honduras will be sharing their progress to the global working group. To learn more information about the Symposium, visit www.bothendsburning.org.
